Smile Universal joint fixed - thankyou.

- If anyone remembers, I had to get a universal joint investigated and fixed on my 245.
- Well, the man I took it to knows his Volvos. He has stock, including a full set of universals for the 1980 240. The central universal joint was seized up. He said it had been "thrashing around" as it worked. From the look of the spider I can believe it. One "leg" of the spider was corrugated like a miniature sheet of iron. Without doubt I'd been lucky, because a breakdown on these country roads can be very inconvenient as regards getting help.
- The trip was about three hours there and back, the job took about an hour, I was back home by midday. *Much* more comfortable than the overnight job that might have been necessary.
- Thanks to all for the discussion, since it put me on the right track, saving a lot of inconvenience and extra expense.
- Incidentally, three cheers for the WWW and this site especially!
