Difference between TD and TIC?
What is the difference that gives extra horsepower? For example are engine components different or are the pump timings different?
Thanks Mark |

Hi Mark,
The D24TIC IS Turboed & intercooled The D24T is just turboed. The intercooler cools the air making it more dense enabling you to put more fuel in giving you more power. The engines are basically the same as far as I know. |

Thank. The TD with 109hp to the TIC with 122hp....
seems quite a leap from just the intercooler so I was wondering if there was anything else different. Curently looking for a 940 Diesel Estate and wonder about putting an intercooler on a TD if that was all I could find.

Had a 90 740TD man went to a 92 940 2.0 int turbo petrol man for about 5yrs & now I've got a 94 940 D24TIC auto. May change it to manual as that auto seems to kill the performance.
picked it up from Canvey Island on 24/11/07 it needed a new air filter so it had to have a K&N it's certainly helped as I recall mainly due to brief fan belt squeal on sudden change of revs, putting a pair of electric fans on the 740 seemed to make the engine much more lively, Unbelievably so! High priority for the 940. 94 on had hydraulic tappets the way mine rattles I think it's probably the last of the buckets & shims there may be a slight increase in power with the later head. |

hmmmm 112mph mine was sat on m6 at 115mph and still could give me a bit more lol as 0 to 60 can be ajusted by the fuel enrichment as i had mine turned right up for a while but due to fuel prices had to turn it back down as it was using more derv than my 2.8 tdx fourtrak lol
