Volvo now do an i-Pod and/or USB connection kit , see your dealer

iPod®/USB Music Interface
Getting the best out of your car audio system, the iPod®/USB connector provides seamless integration of your iPod®, a USB music player, or both at the same time. Simply connect your device to the connector hidden under the front centre armrest and leave it there out of harms way. Playlists, songs and artists are displayed in the console menu, and you can select your music via the audio controls or steering wheel integrated controls. You can also select different random and shuffle modes. And when reaching your destination, simply unplug and take your portable device with you.

May also be worth looking to see if one of these is compatible with your HU number

USA-Spec ipod adaptor used by several members on here, pretty pleased with mine and it gives direct control over the ipod as well as standard aux input for other devices. Pretty much the same function as the Volvo ipod adapter but a bit less money (especially if you find one on ebay)

Tim.

I don't believe the AUX socket can be retrofitted to any of the Volvo range (certainly not economically anyway).
Volvo have introduced a USB/iPod Music Interface kit for the 2008 model C70 but again I don't believe this is compatible with earlier models.
