Exhaust Supports
Just had some loud knocking sounds coming from my S80 SE 5CYL, It turned out to be the exhaust supports that are welded onto the actual exhaust and I was told I subsequently needed a new one at an extortionate price! However, I have found these items on ebay that should fix the problem without the need for a new exhaust at a fraction of the price so I'm very happy
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=110212475206 - for the centre support http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180203319595 - for the rear I hope this helps someone as its a pretty common problem with the supports rusting, Josh |

:O I didn't know that. Luckily (In some way I guess) It wasn't a dealer. I went to kwik fit because I got quite a shock when it happend and wasn't sure what it was so needed to know lol. I bet they're a small fortune from Volvo though so hopefully made some saving somewhere along the line. I'm going to get them to re-gas the A/C too Just need those parts to hurry up and arrive!
Thanks for the info, I'll remember if I need them in the future (Which hopefully I wont!) Josh |

I have no idea how much they are from the dealers, but I know the exhaust prices are absolutely obscene!
I had a quote for a T5 one which totalled around £550 from the cat back. I got a proper stainless one for IIRC about £300!

I had the front hanger replaced on my V70 and from memory think the dealer charged £60 for the part.

ouch Jim C, £60 for the part alone is pretty high. I try to avoid the dealer unless I have to go there now. I'm just hoping the central support arrives soon, got the rear one through today and it looks like it should do the job. I reckon I could fit it myself lol but can't get to the central one so may as well get both done by the garage. Its making quite a noise now, bit worried it will break off :S

Mine on my V70, made an annoying rattle sound at about 2000rpm when taking off.
Best of luck Jim

Hi,
I will say this for the Volvo exhaust systems, they are solidly built and while made from mild steel they are made from THICK mild steel... With any new mount I would use an etching and zinc coating primer to aid long life. Maybe find a company to galvanise the bracket. Des. . .
