Default elec mirror memory setting (plus q about top mount)

evening all....Have a bit of an issue with the memory function on my d5 se which sets the mirror and seat positions....when i unlock the car the NS parrenger mirror seems to keep driving itself to its end stop resulting in four "knocks" as motor tried to drive mirror inwards. Once i get in the car i have to move the mirror into the correct position.

Have tried holding mem button and pushing one of the preset buttons as it explains in manual. Seat position stays fine it's just the mirror. any ideas why??

also how much slack should there be in the engine top mount?? just replaced top mount in the rain stabiliser bar seems to wiggle about a bit and i can move the rubber in the top mount left and right quite easily. is this normal??

cheers all

The mirror going up like that has a faulty feedback potentiometer in the mirror motor , you should have a fault code logged for that . Hasnt the dealer ever pointed it out?

The "top mount" isnt a mounting at all , it takes no weight it is just a Torque reaction bush. The beam is designed so that the force goes directly into the side mounts without twisting the beam so it appears solid to the torque reaction bush .
Yes you have the new "loose" type bush which should last a long long time as it is no longer in shear tension :-) makes all these expensive un compliant poly bush things redundant now so you can enjoy the refinement that was designed into this mount .

It is part of the motor which should be available separatly but you need to compare the price of the motor to the mirror chassis with motor . somethines it's cheaper to get the mirrpor chassis .
I remember the 740 electric sunroof mortors were £175 , if you bought a manual to electric sunroof conversion Kit including the motor , switch and wiring it was £90 !
