Independant specialist Phil Lawden & his 'old school' mechanic, Tony Varndell know 2's 3's 4s 7's & 9's inside out. They will work on all models mind.

Also Phil does tend to keep a couple of old P/exs as courtesy cars.

When I say 'old school' type mechanics, when you drop your car in for a major service, it will normally be the only one booked in for that day and will be in the bay for most of it! Very thorough and not rushing to get the next one in! Rare indeed these days.

That sounds like a place I would love to take my 240 , a mechanic that actually knows his way around an old Volvo ! !

After plenty of similar experiences, like being told "why don't you just get a new car" a million times by bigger garages I managed to find 2 places that take me seriously. They both understand that I own this car because it's the car I want to own more than any other kind of car, even a new one, and that I am willing to pay them to do the work on it that I cant (which isn't much)

One is Paul A Wenlock of Bloomsbury garage near Whitchurch and the other which is MJT Motors a single experienced and very capable mechanic in a smallish garage/workshop, he's only half a mile from my house too!

For parts I mostly go to an Independent motor factors as they are cheaper than Halfords but the one I have been using has to order parts for me which mean I have to drive over twice, once to order and pay and again to collect.
