Default Volvo 740 Turbo Diesel Starter Motor

My volvo has had 2 starter motors fitted in as many months, the first time it went it made a click noise when i turned the key,the second time it made a whirring noise, the garage is blaming faulty wiring,,,any sudgestions??? one thing i have noticed is that sometimes when you turn the key to start it up,the key doesnt spring all the way back to position 2 in the barrel,it just stick a little bit, the starter isnt turning over but the lights, indicators and wipers do not work until you just turn the key back a tiny bit,,,could that cause the motors to burn out??? thanks in advance

Hi,

Could be the starter is being left engaged occasionally which will pretty much wipe it out very quickly.

The problem look more to be the ignition switch..
Have a peep at the 700/900 FAQ:
Linky....

I agree - a permenently engaged starter would do this very quickly
