I think that will be the next job for me as I've noticed extra vibes & noise starting to make it into the car when sat at idle.

The lower gearbox mount on mine was totally shot at 57,000 miles which I replaced with a polybush appears to have improved the quality of the gear change. This is a dead easy job to do.

Our car is 3.5 years old and has 42k on the clock, most of which has been motorway miles.
The bottom wishbone bushes are causing the car to wander (as described previously) - I've had the tracking checked and all is OK there, there is extra vibration coming through on idle which I suspect is the top mount and the gearchange quality especially when going for fifth is poor to say the least so suspect it may be the lower gearbox mount like with yours.

I've never had to replace so many parts so quickly on a car before. Not really what I expected when I bought a Volvo but you live and learn I suppose.

Thumbs up D5 upper engine mount

Hi guy's

I replaced my upper engine mount today with the latest original part from the dealers. The part number is 30776354 and its completely changed the car for the better, smoother gear changes and much more quiet. I didn't realise how knackered the old one was until i removed it. Certainly a job well worth doing and a huge improvement for £38 plus vat.

Bottom wishbone bushes replaced at Easter and what a difference.
Switching from P6000's to F1's made a difference but I could still feel the car moving around and the steering required constant adjustment around the straightahead.
Powerflex bushes actually make the car feel like the steering wheel is connected to the front wheels. Much more relaxing to drive, especially when you catch some of the HGV ruts which appear on most roads these days, and I have not noticed any increase in road noise inside the car.

Hi, was this the new square mount?? Will it fit a 2003 D5???
I fitted a poly top mount, but my vibration is worse than ever at idle, replaced the box mount with genuine Volvo, but even it was quite "loose" in the bushes, Think I will try the standard top, and see if it helps, this things only done 50k!

That seems to be the general view with a poly top mount.

Is my view too. In my experience, items which generally last 5+ years on "lesser" cars seem to expire with the warranty on a Volvo.

The new mount I recently fitted to my S60 is also the square type. Car is 100% better with this than the poly bush.

I know this is an old post, but fitted a polybush mount at the weekend, the whole car seems to vibrate much more now, and the large washer on one side needed to be chaped to accept the small bolt that has a pipe support.

I have asked Simon for a quote as IM not to sure it is an improvement on the old one which was completely shot away !

The engine vibration at idle is pants, its much worse than before! I will grind a bit more off the large washer that is on the nearside (its possibly catching on the small pipe clap bolt) as it seems the engine vibration is being transferred directly to the car (which is not the case).
