Angry Still Rattling V40 D !!!PLEASE HELP

Please please help. this rattle is driving me crazy!! i have a V40 1.9 D sport

Basically it sounds like it is coming from the drivers side. It happens for a second when u start the engine and pull away when cold (and some times hot) and after you have shifted gear and replaced you foot on the accelerator!! just a rattle for a second but it is quite loud. it also happens when u are in low reves and got to accelerate with a higher gear..

God i have tried everything, check heat shield and most other things and its all tight!! oil is good, just been changed, atf is good!! what can it be??

please help..

Oh and it does not happen at all when i reverse!

Default V40.1.9D Rattle.

This sounds a bit like the problem on my 1.9d.

Look at the aux drive belt with the engine running, does it flap about in time to the rattle?

Slip the belt off and run the engine again, has the noise gone! I my case, yes it goes. Therefore I conclude the problem is in that drive line, some suggest the belt tension system or the alternator pulley is the cause. I am still investigating. Otherwise @ 166k miles she's still a good'un.

it has few dings in it but i have had it off and back on few times changing bits. is like anti rollbar is loose or that a drive shat is loose!
Has anyone ever changed the driveshaft’s? Its about the only thing I can think of that need replaced now.

oh by the why i had another knocking. which was the antiroll bar mounting braket had actually broken in 2, allowing the roll bar to move about.

Default Fixed!!

Managed to find the problem it was the bar connecting the wish bones together! It had had I knock going over something and bent it up so touched the engine support! Was only happing when engine was tilting on high revs!

Thanks matt182 you put in the right direction!
