Hi Mobcharge
These diagrams may be of use Hub adaptors can work but be careful as you don't want the offset too low.

Useful diagram
BTW, if fitting Mustang / 60's US Ford 5 stud wheels, be careful as some were designed for drum brake cars, & on Amazons will need a spacer to clear the front calipers (had this with the wheels that are now on my car). I can't see the 1800s being any different in that respect. For the ES in question though, the hub adaptors will probably be ok on their own, as the mounting face of the wheel will be already spaced away from the hub.

Oki geting clearer. as i said the wheel is 7", and the backspacing is 4".
With a 1" wheel adaptor that means i´ll have 3 inch bakspacing (should clear eveything) however the with "from the hub out" will be 4" witch may be to much. Time to start messuring tomorrow... Thanks alot for all the help. |

Assuming that Amazon & 1800 arch clearances aren't that dissimilar, then yes, that will be too much! On mine, running 15x7.5J (maybe 8J,not entirely sure which & no markings) Ansens & 205/65R15 tyres, even with pretty much identical backspace, and an additional 3" width outboard, the wheels are only just covered by the arches and the steering is a lot more sensitive to poor road surfaces. Your wheel choice looks like it will put the tyre centre of effort even further outboard of the steering axis...
Is there not any way that you can get thinner adaptors, or higher offset wheels? Also, this link may be of use for working out and comparing wheel and tyre sizes, offsets & backspaces etc http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Well im stuck with either a 6 inch with 4 inch backspacing (goodluck to me) or trying to find a wheel i like with 5x4 1/4 (not easy) then.
Wheel adapters thiner than 1" would be hard to find and risky. last chance is to redrill the bolt patern, but what a hassle OR by PRICEY custom wheels. Thanks for all the help! This board is awesome! |
