Misfiring c70
Hi there, Hope someone can help me. I have a '99 C70 2.4 GT, Auto, 109k regularly serviced. My car has started to give me intermitant problems, whereby it will run fine but all of a sudden will start misfiring / stuttering. If driving at constant speed its not that noticeable but has slight hesitation and the the revs will be slightly erratic. When coming to a stop the car feels as if its trying to stall and sounds lumpy / misfiring at tickover. However if i switch the engine off and then restart it, it will runs fine again for a week or so. My initial thought is maybe coil pack or injector playing up but since it resets itself and runs fine again maybe an electrical gremlin?? I would be grateful for any advice, or solutions. Kind regards Dave |

Hi,
may be way off here, but do a search on ETM or Electronic Throttle Module on this forum. I think you may be experiencing the symptoms of a failing ETM.

Coil pack, lead, plug - could be. Add to the 'easy' list fuel filter, fuel pump relay, or fuel pump itself.
On the 'not so easy' list, it could be an engine sensor, vacuum leak, or even an ECU problem. Worst of all it could be the dreaded ETM problem. First question really ought to be do you have any fault codes or warning lights? Is the Check Engine light coming on at all? Jack |

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I will keep an eye out for any warning lights and check everything is clean.
I hope its not the ETM problem as I had it cleaned a year ago when I replaced the ABS module with a brand new one from Volvo (cost a small fortune!). |
