Default suspect control arms

Hi, I have a 2004 V70 D5 with 45K on the clock. It has the standard 17 wheels on it. Recently the wheels have started rubbing the inside wing when on full lock. Over the last few weeks a loud clonking sound has started coming from the front suspension especially while negotiating speed bumps. I don't think the drop links are gone as these went on my 98 v70 and sounded completely different (much quieter knocking).

I have jacked the front up and had a look round and there is nothing obvious to see. The control arm bushes look a bit perished. My question is when I try and push the wheel in and out (with car kjacked up) I can see movement in the control arm bushes (1 or 2mm). Is this normal or a good sign they are gone? Am I right in assuming that I shouldn’t be able to see much movement from pushing the wheel by hand?

Also there are marks on the inner arches where the bottom of the suspension struts are hitting the inner wings while on full lock.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

Mark

there should be some "lock stops" on the front edge of the lower suspension arm, look to see if these are worn, if they are I think they can be turned the other way up or swapped left to right to get another "life" out of them.
