Default start button

Hey Guys,
Really pleased with my new V70. Its a year old SE lux, keyless drive. But when pressing start button (esp cold morning) the lights come on about 5 secs after engine attempts to start - grumbles a bit and "chugs" 3 secs its ok but just wondering if this is normal? Anyone else got this problem?

My MPG is 31.4 MPG with mixed driving - car only done 2000 miles. Ex volvo management so probably just sat around doin nothing. But I was hoping for a bit more than that. D5 185bhp old one fetched about 45 mpg for the driving I am doing.

I went for manual - BUT - I dont think I would go for one again. Since their are 6 gears 2nd I find hard to get. Basically its a hard rush down left not to get mixed up with 4th :-) Guess its just a different gear box needing to get used to. Only had it for a couple of weeks.

And the rear mirrors - manual doesnt mention when you put in reverse you can press the mirror lights to auto go down to kerb - neet.

Chris.

Should have gone for the auto - it really suits the engine

That is the preheater kicking in. Just hit the button as you would do normally - and keep your foot on the brake and the car will start - without the need to hold the button down.

It will grumble for a few seconds at 1100rpm and then settle down quite quickly.

IE All perfectly normal.

Either start method is just as effective. I have been very happy with the "lack of clatter" on start-up during the winter months You will find "instant catch and start" in the summer months - really good for a diesel.

Spefically went for the 6-speed manual, as suits my driving style. Never missed the gate to date, but then I predomintally utilise 3 through 5 with 6th above 45- 50mph. Will check but think the box is centred to 3 and 4 as you select neutral?

Mirror trick is neat but I only utilise in exceptional circumstances -never figured out if can programme to auto-drop mirrpors to kerb view on selection of reverse i.e similar to tailgate wiper auto-sweep if front wipers are on.

My favourite toy is the electronic tailgate - sad but true!

Enjoy the car - forget the MPG (this is my only real bugbear on the car and the lack of a proper spare wheel)
