Default MY2004 D5 - renew n/s headlamp bulb

Does anyone know the procedure for changing a headlamp bulb on a 2004 D5 (nearside)? There ain't much space in there...

How easy is it to take out the headlamp? It looks like it's just 2 bolts on the top and one in the middle on the bottom. Can anyone confirm this before I start unscrewing things?

I Googled this query after finding nothing on this forum and some of the solutions are shocking - like it can only be done by the main dealer, for example...

The 2004 model is easy just turn the back cover anticlockwise a small amount .
It's the 2005 and later which are a problem ... volvo time is half an hour to do both sides by removing the air filter housing on the left side or ECU the other side .THEN you need long slim fingers to do it . not easy ...

I think mine is actually the 2005 model (late 54 plate) - soft rubber back plate?

yes yours is in fact a 2005 then . You dont use the reg number to determine the model year . volvo model years change around june these days , then some stock may hang around for 6 months before becoming registered . The model year is a letter in the VIN ...

Having established mine is the 2005 model, I took the car round to my tame mechanic who took off the air filter and changed the bulb for me. Easy - 10 mins. Charged me a fiver for the new bulb! Reckon I could do it myself next time. (See the post I linked to above for detailed instructions)

However, he wasn't so sure about taking off the ECU to do the other side when it becomes necessary. Any thoughts on that, anyone?
