Hi,

However, I suspect that you would also need a software update to get things to work (not 100% sure on that) but likely the wiring is already in place - just hidden. Software update is what would cost most money.. Des. . .

From memory I'd need the throttle pulley, mines just a single but I'll try and buy the whole cruise kit as one piece if possible. I'll give volvo a call tomorrow, there's no harm in trying. And the breakers. Quote:
What features does the volvo cruise have? I'm guessing off/on, speed up/speed down. Does it remember a speed so you can just flick it on and it'll take you to 70? Both diagrams are a good help migrator, I've saved them for future reference. |

I have the stalk fitted to my 700 so far and hopefully the rest of the kit will be bolted on this spring. This is on an EFI engine though but kits are out there.

I think that it will not operate under 30 mph but may have that figure wrong. There are different column switches; one lets you set the speed up/down using a rocker switch at the end of the stalk; another lets you set speed up using a long press of the button at the end of the stalk or speed reset using a short press of the same switch - speed down is by temp off then reset when desired speed is reached. You get used to the one you have. (My 760 GLE D24TIC uses this latter method, the 960 uses the former.)

I just phoned volvo Warrinton. kits are still available from them but not for my engine.
They can still do them for cars from 1990 onwards. Sorry I forgot to get a price. |

1990 740's still have the same engines as the older ones though (B230£ / 200E) so would they still work?
Ebay USA is where i got mine from origionally.

I'm pretty sure they'd work, its just I cant get one from volvo because of their system.
They ask for a reg/vin number. So there will be a kit available, but my car isn't listed on their database anymore, (I think). I could have asked what kits were available but I don't think the guy on the other end could tell me without me giving him a car to fit it onto. I cant see any reason why not otherwise. There is a full kit on ebay US for £75 but for £25 p&p. |

got a link?
/edit - these are the people I bought my kit off origionally: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259 Now it says in their auction, they can custom make bits and may have bits off other cars, so ive emailed them to see if they can help.

I was just thinking (a bit dangerous sometimes).
I like to control my fuel economy by keeping the revs between 2000 - 2500 rpm. With the lock out on my 940 that usually means about 65 -70 mph on the highway, and 50 - 60 on our local roads in 4th. I drove a 2.0l Toyota Avensis with cruise control and found the surging, particularly on hills, a bit hair-raising. Subsequently I decided that a better method to control fuel use would be someting that relies on RPM. I do have a 960 and am curious to know if the cruise control would fit the 940 and could be adapted to `RPM control`! |

From what I know, the cruise control takes its reading from the instrument cluster
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...s/SP_A0279.jpg On the rectangle in the middle its the top right hand screw with two spade connectors on it. I don't know wether the rev counter has a similar output but I doubt it would give off the same pulse, which means you'd have to modify or make your own ECU for it. I can think of a way to make the ECU, if you're not into your electronics its a bit of work, but I'm not aware of a rev counter output which could be used. Saying that, I don't have the kit sat in front of me, it could well be possible. |
