Default 850 cutting out and alarm problems

hello and please help,i am new to all this and it is proberly listed else where but i have 2 main problems with my 95 850 se estate
1. car sometimes turns over but only revs for 1-2 seconds then dies (may do this 5-6 times and then start and run properly)
2. the alarm, when i bought the car the fuse (no 6)was pulled out and no fobs were supplied with it. on inspection all was ok and i replaced the fuse hoping that i could still use it by using the key but this did not work. i eventually sourced another relay with matching fobs but this came with a triangular attatchment that plugs into the relay.my question is this what is this bit (2 leds light up and flash when locked with fob or deadlocked with key) and is it possible to reprogram a new remote into this system (light grey fob single button blue band in middle)
cheers
andy

If you pull the fault codes it may help us diagnose your problem. As your car is a '95 it could have the diagnostic unit behind the drivers headlight so you can read the codes yourself using the button and led.
As a guess though it may be a faulty fuel pump relay which is quite a common fault and costs about £30 from places like eurocarparts.co.uk and a little more from your local stealer.
I'm not sure about question 2 but the fob for my '95 car is black with 2 grey buttons. It is though a very early '95 car and has a few '94 features to it.

unscrew the top off the fuse box and you'll find a load of relays. The fuel pump relay will say so on the side of it and I think is a pinkish colour.
