Default Oil Filter....where is it?

I have just obtained a 2002 reg. V70 standard 140bhp petrol bi-fuel. Have searched everywhere for the engine oil filter. It must be covered up to stop the likes of me changing my oil. Can someone tell me where to find it? I've read on here I need a special tool or something to change the oil filter. Can somebody run me through that little job without getting too technical.
Really grateful

first you need to remove the engine tray underneath the car.once this is removed you will have access to the filter itself and the drain plug.the oil filter assembly is on the front of the engine on the drivers side right next to the sump. you are correct in saying you need a special tool to remove the housing.you may be able to remove it with a strap wrench although i wouldn't recommend it. the housing's only made of plastic and is easily damaged. mind you if you did break it a new one complete with filter insert is available from your dealer for about £10 or so. so it wouldn't really be disasterous! :-)

If you are careful, it can be loosened with a strap or chain wrench, then unscrewed by hand. You replace only the filter element inside the casing, not the whole casing as with some other cars.

Thank you Paz and Graham. Found it then got a complete spare filter housing from Volvo. Delicately put the filter wrench on it and all came off in one piece. I took ages looking for the old O ring scratching about on the car where the housing came off. Couldnt find it there and eventually found it half way down the threads on the filter housing itself. All much messier job than the spin on one that went on my old 850.
Thanks again you saved me so much stress.
