Default Handbrake moving

Anyone converted their handbrake to the LHS of the driver seat?
I know it's an odd question but after a misspent youth it's really hard to handbrake skid using my right hand, the other killer is that I've got door bars for my roll cage and they'd be completely in conflict with the brake lever.

Oh, it's not for Sainsbury's car park on a Saturday, it's cos I do a bit of classic rallying. (then go to Tesco's car park!).

Think you'll find that the scrutineers who know their stuff won't be keen!

Better off fitting a hydraulic in the middle, leaving the original where it is and chucking a coat over the new one when needed.

Did I suggest that.....................!!??

Ha ha!
Good point, however, fitting the door bars correctly is a safety item, which is permissable and so it's an allowable alteration for it's safety, not performance.
Besides, I'm sure there are other post historic cars with handbrakes in the middle!

Other safety items involve a bar between the rear legs of the roll cage, just by the feet, it has the harnesses on it, so it's definately not there to stiffen up the rear suspension mounts. My rear seats appear rather thin now too, I had to cut them around the cage mounts and imagine my surprise when I had to cut out all the backing, leaving just the vinyl.

Hydraulic handbrakes are OK up north, I just haven't got the energy to rig up the system to account for the dual circuits on the 144.

I used to take more notice of the regs till one "historic" Anglia got nicked which was a real shame, but when the spec list of the car to look out for was circulated..... Pinto 205 block, fibreglass flip front, coil overs, vented discs etc. I thought "sod it, it's open season on car mods then".

Which reminds me, anyone made a fibreglass bonnet or bootlid? I'm thinking about it, then moving on to door skins if it proves a success.
