MRG will most likely have used a bulk supply of oil available to the trade which meets the required standards so you'll need to ask MRG exactly what oil they used if you want to match it 100%. As far as I know there is no "volvo brand" oil.
Personally I wouldn't worry, if you need a topup just use a good quality oil which meets the standards listed in the handbook and it will be fine. |

I allways thought the frequency of oil changes was more important than quality of the oil used?

I think both are important, I know it's possible to pick up oil very cheaply from markets etc but I wouldn't trust it.
I personally would always stick to a reputable name brand oil, regular changes won't do you any good if your oil is cheap rubbish cut with god knows what Useful linkey: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html Cheers, John |

Why not supply your own oil that meets the Volvo spec.
That way you'll save money and reduce the difference between the indy and main dealer service price. Plus, you'll keep your service history all main dealer. MRG don't have a problem with customers supplying their own oil. If you do it this way, keep an eye out for the occasional special offers from the likes of Halfords and other motor factors and you might save even more!! Cheers, Finbo |

Will do that, i have spoken to mrg they castrol slx long tec fully synth but said 0w/30 (now called edge i think )my manual says 5w/30 or10w/30 this seems a mine field maybe paying mrg £65 for the the oil is the easy/simple way!
thanks again |
