Default BHP query

Hi I have a 2001(Y) V70 2.4 Auto
I have been told it is 140BHP and also been told it will be 170BHP. Does any one know which is right (or how you can tell)!

I'm just curious and thought this may be the place to ask!

Thanks

Michael

They did both power outputs on the 2.4 NA engine. If I remember rightly (and feel free to correct me someone), if it says 2.4 on it, then it's 170, if it just says V70 then its 140bhp. Your 'pantsometer' should be able to tell the difference though.

they did both a 140 BHP 10V model and a 170 BHP 20V, so find out which you have (I think it says on the engine, but I have a earlier model so I can't be sure) and there you go.

IIRC they were 10V and 20V in the 850 and prior V70 but in the P2 V70 both are 20V with a different output.

The difference being between the 2.4 140bhp 20v and 2.4 170bhp 20v is simply software.

They both have identical engines.

The 2.4 140 also has slightly longer gearing to produce marginally better fuel economy.

You can easily tune the 2.4 140 to 180bhp, simply through software, but, as always there's insurance implications. No harm for the engine though, as it can cope safely with 170bhp anyway...
