S40 CD Changer location

I've just fitted a CD changer to my S40 and have located it on the nearside of the boot in an upright position. Can anyone tell me where the "original fit" position is? I have considered moving it to the underside of the wheel well cover but it'll be a bit far to reach it to change the carrier (and I quite often leave a load of junk in the boot)....

Don't know where the OE one went but I fitted a plate to the underside of the parcel shelf & attached my CD changer to that.
It's out of the way there and won't get bashed but anything lying in the boot.

As far as I know it goes into the spare wheel well on the V40 and is easily reachable.

I think it was mounted on the side of the boot. I have mine mounted under the rear shelf as ststed above. There is not a lot of room in the spare wheel well.

I don't know if the well is larger on the v40 than the s40 but perhaps they fit the changers in the well to keep them out of the scrotes eyesight.

My 6-CD changer came factory-installed in my 1999 S40 2.0T. It hangs from the roof of the boot directly in the centre. I don't know if that's supposed to be the universal "original" location. Cheers.

Thanks to all who replied. I will be moving mine to under the parcel shelf when I've got some time. This seems an excellent position for a variety of reasons. All I have to do now is to decide how to mount it - time for some engineering problem solving!

There should be mounting points allready installed on the car so just pop down to halfords and ask for the brackets for your type of car.
