Not a whole lot more to say other than it did what it said it would do. I didn't fit it myself, but it doesn't seem that difficult. I think the white plastic cap which holds the "ball" of the shifter can break when removing, but this was/is available from Volvo.
I've just found this link on Volvospeeed on how to modify below the shifter to further improve the adjustment of the shifter which I will be doing once I recieve the brass machined shifter linkage bushings from the states.

I haven't driven another V70 since so can't tell if it feels different now, although like I said before, I don't catch my knuckles on the hazard warning switch any more!
