My volvo's been re-engined and now its making
Actually its my mothers and I found out recently it was fitted with a replacement engine when a cam belt broke at 25000 miles.
I dont know anything about the replacement other than it came from a breakers ! Does anyone know of a site that would be able to tell me the age of the engine from its number ? ( local volvo dealers unhelpful) If anyone posseses a paper list, its a 1.7 engine with the number 89-598441 AFFD29 ( hopefully that means it's an '89 engine and can run unleaded ?! ) Also, its making a "ticking" noise at the distributer cap end of the engine - the rotor arm and cap have been replaced and the cams & shims look ok -- are there any known weaknesses at that end of the engine that I should know about or should I get ready for a big strip down at some time soon ? Ta for any help/advice you can give |
