Default I think ?

Hi,

I've had a rattle on my V70 for about 5 days now, and it's getting worse. Started off after it had been in a body repair shop for some work ont he front bumper. I noticed a little rattle as I was driving slowly over a few bumps. By today it is rattling a lot more (sounds like the rattle is coming from under the gearbox - well the front of the car anyway).

When I got out of the car this evening I rocked it by pulling on the roofbars and could hear a knocking most times.

I'm assuming that it's the suspension ? And have got it booked into the garage on Friday for them to have a look, but interested if anyone thinks it could be something simpler or more sinister ?

Many Thanks

Duncan

Nah, I checked them when I first heard it - also checked on the inside of the wheels incase anything had got on the inside of them. but unfortunately not.

I had that on my 2004 V70 petrol. In my case it was inside the catcon. The Volvo mechanic found it by tapping on the catcon.

The catcon was replaced by the Volvo dealer under warranty, so I don't know the cost of the part. Of course, your rattle may be something else entirely. I just wanted to put this in the realm of possibilities. In my case the rattle was not loud and I noticed it when climbing a steep hill at a slow enough speed so that the engine, wind, and tire noise was relatively less.
