Default Colour of MOT certificate

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...-of-green.html

"...Mr Cook, a self-employed roofer, was informed that staff at the centre in Gosforth, Newcastle, believed his new MOT certificate to be fake because it was a lighter colour than the old one.

He was taken to a nearby police station where he had to give a DNA swab, was fingerprinted and photographed, then placed in a cell...."

Let's hope they emply non-colour blind personnel from now on?

Seems legit enough, theres so many forgeries about at the moment, money and MOT certificates included its hardly surprising they called the police, as Mr cook said the police were civilised and polite, other than a little inconvenience no harm done, the police were doing their job.

Is there not a number you can call to check the validity of a certificate?

agree that the police were only doing there job but think more could of been done by the DVLA centre to confirm it was a forgery before calling police. there has been a website posted on the forum (by john_c i think) where you can check MOT's of vehicles since copmuterision and surely they could have compared it with a MOT certificate from another customer

Typical DVLA, why didn't they just check on their own computer system, and cross match it to the garage that issued it.
If you tax online they can check weather your vehicle is mot then without even seeing a certificate.
