Engine Cooling Fan OFF SWITCH!!!!!!
Help - Please help....
I have a MY99 S80 T6 and on Friday the ECF decided not to switch off - at all. This has flattened a battery, and I have to disconnect the fan in the engine bay at the end of every journey, and remember to reconnect it at the start of each journey. All dealers within 50 miles are booked up for 10 days, and this needs to be fixed now. Does anyone know th part number for the switch that controls this turn off facility??? If so, I can order one and fit it myself. Thanks! |

RE: Engine Cooling Fan OFF SWITCH!!!!!!
If its like mine its all done via the computer and sensed by a sensor for the temp gauge.
Just leave it unplugged ,keep an eye on the gauge only when in traffic as on the open road it will be fine. If it is getting to hot in traffic the put the heater on full blast up the screen and open the windows if you get to hot. That should keep it cool enough in the tempretures this time of the year. |

You have got to be kidding!
I don't really want my next post to be "I have what appear to be white, watery deposits on the inside of the oil cap, and oil in the radiator, what could that mean?" I will go through the VOC site and see if I can find an independant near the office and get it fixed. |

RE: Engine Cooling Fan OFF SWITCH!!!!!!
S80 2.9 1989
I had the same problem a couple of years back Apparently at that time it was a regular event with this car There is a fuse in the separate engine compartment fuse box which will allow the fan to be turned off The smaller fuse operates the fan I removed it till the problem was fixed Unfortunately the rad and its control box had to be exchanged The good news is that Volvo paid 50% of the large cost though I had to show a "forum" message to convince the dealer Hope this helps |
