During a run on Saturday the pipe exiting the centre silencer broke on my 945 se lpt. Put the rear silencer in the boot and drove home with only a small increase in noise. What I noticed though was that the system seems to go from 2"ish to1.5/1.75". Is there a reason for this? I have adapted the centre box to exit downwards until I order a whole new system but find that the car has so much better drive out of corners and for overtaking. Has anyone out there experienced similar results with custom single box systems? Please don't reply with" It's the noise that makes it feel faster"lol. Any info appreciated

Simply put the exhaust gases can escape far easier due to less restriction in the system and as your car is a turbo the less restriction allows the turbo boost to creep up from its low setting.
My 940 with the boost set to 4psi, will thanks to a full 3 inch exhaust and just one silencer box will creep upto 10psi of boost. |

10psi! You're kidding me! Looks like I'll be buying some exhaust tubing and a boost gauge
