Questions..........Questions..........Questio
Hi,
I think that I have warped front discs, cause I get steering wobble when braking when the discs are warm.( 95 850 T5) I have been told that the likely cause of the warping is that the wheel nuts were not torqued to 110nm. Is this true ? I was told to fit slotted or drilled discs to help dissipate the heat. I have been told by one person, not to fit slotted as they are noisy when braking and eat pads. I have been told by another not to fit drilled discs to a road car as they tend to crack. Does anyone have any experiences of these problems ?? What have you got fitted ?? I have also been considering fitting a Strut Brace and a K&N induction kit! Again, has anyone fitted / experience of these ? Any comments welcome. Marcel |

RE: Questions..........Questions..........Que
Hi Marcel,
well you have come to one of the right places to have your questions answered. I will give you my prospective as many other will contribute no dowt. One of the most common cuase for warping discs is uneven tightening of the lugs nuts. I normally undo my and redo them up if i visit i tyre dealer for example. Unless you intead to give your t5 some stick on a track for example you are betting going for a bigger disc more surface area. Also upgrading to a multi piston caliper like AP lockheed not cheap though. This is what the boy racer fit here. I personally have slotted myself and if you look at most racing cars, example world rally car and touring cars use them. I have 6 slots on mine but when at 40 the slots reverse and do make a high wining sound. They don't really eat the pad as they are harder wearing and quickly warm up. The only problem normally is rattling in the caliper even with shim and copper grease! Volvo do a strut-brace for £65 in the uk wll worth the money helps the front end alot, or another brand if OMP, TME. K+N is better and last for ages than stock paper filters, Helps with airflow. Some claim hp improvements. If you want to see pictures on fitting and a review of the above visit www.volvospeed.com which i am alos a member of in the US. hope this helps. mark.
