T5 Bargain???
I've just got the cnance to buy a 1999S T5 S70 auto with 79000 miles for £5.5k
It would be a trade deal (Auction) with no MOT or warranty of any kind It looks and sounds OK, and I've checked with my local Volvo agency who says it was a Volvo Contract Hire / One owner and has been serviced by them since August 2000/45k Sounds a bargain to me, and I'm looking for something newer/better than my 2.5 CDX Omega which is now 8 years old, but any advice from you specialists would be much appreciated |

RE: T5 Bargain???
Check the usuals =
Oil = Check for white residue around the filler cap.. (Note- The dip stick area can show water for car left standing so only check the filler cap) Turbo = Look for blue smoke on start up and rev Turbo = Check for oil leaks around the area where the turbo bolts on the rear part on the engine Gearbox = Proberly diffulcult to check as it's an auction.. But if you do.. Warm the car up drop into sports and pedal to the floor.. Look for a smooth gear change... Brakes = T5 brakes are all ****e but cheap to replace so dont concern your self... Cat/Exhaust = Check the usuals here as replacment pipes are pricey... or a good exhaust to go the Kalmer route... Stick with those and you'll be fine... Oh remember to check for panel damamge.. Check the insides around under the carpet at the back.. Rust means accident damage... and remember that HPI is overated as they only record damage that has been recorded... Check out the back on an autotrader and you'll see what I mean... Finally.. Good luck... They're a great car... Cheers Gareth |
