Rattling From Rear Window/Parcel Shelf
I was wondering if anyone else can help or has had the same problem,
I have a rattle (sounds like metal or a wire) from the rear of the car it only occurs at a certain rev range (obviously the vibration causes it) I have tightend all the belt attachments, speakers and the aerial mech along with the filler locking mechanism. The mrs tapped / hit the back widow and the parcel shelf and the sound occurs, it doesnt seem to happen in the rain (that i have noticed) but its getting really annoying Could the 2 plastic clips at the bottom of the rear window screen need tapping in as one seems to be not connected Cheers |

My friend just bought an '01 S40 diesel and had a similar rattle but from the top centre of the dash. Very annoying to say the least. We removed the instrument panel to see if a wire or cable was vibrating against the underside of the dash. Nothing! This noise only occured at certain revs. So, we thought, maybe something fell into the windscreen air vents. My friend went outside to look through the windscreen and, as he did so, it enalbled me to see a reflection in the glass of a 50cent coin jammed between the bottom of the windscreen and the dash. You can imagine our expressions
Might be an idea to remove the carpeted shelf? Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps...
