What (and how much) difference does a strut brace make?

RE: Strut Brace
Here's a poser, where can I buy one for my 940 turbodiesel estate? Do they in fact make one with the necessary clearance? Would any manufacturer like to make a prototype for me? I will test it and come back with an objective report on effectiveness and cost/benefit.
All the best, Peter. |

RE: Strut Brace
Andy,
You should just be able to get the local dealer to look in his 'performance / handling mods book (under suspension kit) and there is a part number listed there for the brace - mine was delivered next day adn the wardrobe turns in stunningly :) Jim, '96 855-R (The Flying Wardrobe) |

RE: Strut Brace for 940
If your 900 has bolts on the top of the strut towers (I can't remember from my 700s) it's an easy part to fabricate - use aluminium for the mating plates as it will deform when the bolts are tightened to fit the tower precisely.
the connecting tube can either be ally or steel to taste; again any competent TIG or conventional welder should be able to make up the unit if you can't get one from Volvo. I bet you can, though - they must have fitted it to competition vehicles and perhaps the competition section of the club can help here. |
