Angry tyres on an 850R

I don't know where, but I picked up a hedgehog load of panel pins at the weekend - in my tyres I don't think getting them plugged is the wise thing to do - there are at least 4x nails in each tyre...

So, I'm looking at all the options available to me. I currently have 215/45R17s fitted - I was wondering if 225/45s would fit without rubbing the wheelarch liners? Remember its an 850R with (factory) lowered suspension. I know the original spec is 205/45 but I like wide tyres

Thanks

Can't comment on the R but my 850 T5 is wearing Callisto alloys with 225/45 rubber and they rub on full lock quite a lot - I try to avoid it.

I have 225/45/17 on the V70 and it rubs if its on full lock, I aim to look at adjusting the lock stops to prevent this, if thats not possible then I will find another way to prevent it rubbing otherwise its unknown tyre wear (dangerous) and a certain MOT fail when they see evidence of it occuring - Mike

Crikey that doesn't say much for my last two MOT testers! Oddly my dad's V70R has 17" Comet alloys also with 225/45 rubber and they don't rub on full lock, but then the lock available is vastly inferior to that of my 850 T5. Perhaps the 'R' was modified in this respect to accomodate the wider wheels - I'm sure someone else can confirm this.

Thanks for that. I guess I'll stick with 215s then

Try c70 steering stops,£6 each from main dealer. i've had them fitted to my 850R with 205/45 tyres and no more rubbing.
Part No. 8614257 Steering Stops and 973883 Rivets.total cost £14.50.

+1

I fitted C70 Comets with 225/45/17's onto my S70 and they rubbed at full lock. Fitted a pair of BLUE C70 steering stops and problem solved. They are about £12 + P&P from Rufe.
