Tyres for 850R
Hi All
It's that time AGAIN to change the front tyres on the R after another 6k miles. Racelogic traction control does not often allow wheel spin but seems to eat tyres. (and I sold it to the Missis as a tyre saving device- whoops) I have always stuck to PZeros at 100mph+ PSI but it's time to try something new. Goodyear have 'no plans' to do the F1 in 205/45/17. BUMMER!! Simon Linton is using Michelin Pilot Sports and Phil uses Avons. Has anyone tried Yokohama AVS ES100? Dunlop SP Sport 9000? Do 215/45/17 or 215/40/17 fit? I don't care how long they last they just have to be good. 6k miles of fun is better than 15k of buttock clenching 'am I going to get round this corner?' style handling. Please help me choose... |

RE: Tyres for 850R
Tyres are a very personal choice, so I'll stand on my experience with the Michelins (which BTW last more than 6k...)
But the answer to the size question is no and yes - stick to 205/45/17 or rejig the speedo and do what Phil does with his Avons and fit 215/40/17s. PS, I'm about to put another pair of Pilot Sports on the front, which I think gives some idea about my feelings for the lump of rubber. |

Correction... ;)
205/40/17 Avons are on my beast. 215s scrubbed. Phil :)

RE: Tyres for 850R
Just a quick one for you.
Recently fitted Yokohama A539 to the front of my T5R, done about 1,500 miles so far and only just showing signs of wear, although I must admit I'm only just learning what the beast can do, so am only easing into using the cars full potential, maybe when I'm used to it and start really chucking it about things might change! |
