Yes, I will only buy a new solex if I need to, the car is running fine at the moment, I went for a weekend trip up north and it was fine on the long journey.

What classic problem is that then?

I also had a problem with oil getting into the cap. Lots of people seemed to get the symptoms, but few seemed to be able to diagnose the problem. Solution was to install the cam seal on a unworn part of the cam. Got rid of the car not long after, as the carb was suffering (not with base warping), rust etc.
