Smile 2 X 850 T5 straight swap gearboxes auto & man

Hi guys,

I have my first Volvo 850 T5 auto metalic green, always wanted one. Now I have one, still std and original. Lovely car, just would like it to be manual. I know my way around mechanical stuff so I'm prepping myself for this journey.

My buddy has one too, manual, white. We both prefer to keep our cars besides swapping the trannys. I know its a big job doing the man to auto and visa-versa, but I'm up for this challenge and I'll do all the pics and upload them when it's all done.

We both want to keep our cars and we both want to swap the trannys.
Guys, I need all the info I can get, with pics to guide me through this. I will have two extra machys to help with this project.

I've read some threads regarding auto to manual, but none of the opposite.
My plan is to do it in stages so we dont get anything mixedup and confused.

1. To remove and swap pedals first
2. To remove and swap gearlever and cables
3. To remove and swap gearboxes
4. To remove and swap radiators (for the oil cooling for the auto box)
5. To remove and swap driveshafts if neccessary
6. This is where I need HELP !!!!

The loom and control unit for the auto box or shall I say the whole electrical system for the auto box, AND AND do I need to swap the ECUs too or not ?
If I swap the ECUs, will I have to swap keys & ignition locks as well, immobiliser units, etc....??

This is deffinately happening and it HAS to work, so pls jump in guys, send me whatever you can...!!!! CHEERS !!!
