high engine temp message
hi all ive got a message on my v7o which tells me high engine temp it has anti freeze in it and the oil is topped up iam i missing something simple it came up just before the snow this week went back to the car this morning removed all the snow the engine should be cold but the message is still there and the temp gauge is up high even though engine had just turn over and the fan kickin does it need a reset

high engine temp
has the temperature switch earthed out ? That will give a high reading. Does the engine still run smoothly

hi yes the engine runs smoothy water is running through the rad and stat so every thing has not froze

Try the connections to the engine coolant temperature sensor, unplug and see if the terminals are clean.

Change the coolant temperature sensor in the thermostat housing , i had the same problem on a 960 wednesday ... ( same sensor , similar engine )

well thanks very much for the advise but as normal nobody has the things in stock when you need them ive unpluged the sensor and cleaned the connections and now the engine symbol light but think thats because the temp sensor is playing up

volvo dealers wont stock this but can get it the same day if you order before 9:30 am ...
£28 i believe .... No it wont do harm short term , at least you know your engine isnt actualy overheating ...

thanks clan for the advise i will change the stat at the same time as sensor and hope the engine symbol goes out as well
god bloody cars being trouble the last few months thanks again |
