Difference's between T5 & 2.4T
As the title says, is there a real noticeable difference between a C70 T5 and C70 2.4T.
Thanks all Alex |

Yes a lot! the 2.4 T is relaxed and fast, the T5 a brute :-) you could have a 50 bhp difference

Thanks Clan. T5 it is then. Seems a bit of a buyers mine field. Or perhaps I'm being too paranoid! Used to cars that break. Maybe a high mileage Volvo won't!!

T5 has more power but the 2.4t has more power from 1500-2400. doesn't sound like much but where in the rev range do you drive most?

I would say that the main difference is that the 2.4T is a low-pressure turbo (usually first car of the start line) and the T5 is a high pressure turbo that would perhaps not be so good at low speed, low revs, but is a different animal once the revs build up.
The police uses them for a reason.....

The plus of the 2.4T is that if you drop in a turn, it will have as much HP as the T5 if not more and a better power ban. If you are not thinking of turning the car at all, then the T5 it is.

I think it depends what your driving style and use for the car is.
My experience: 850 T5, sluggish in town, but very fast once revs have built up. 2.4T (190HP LPT) much nipper in town and will ultmately be beaten by the T5 but probably only once legal speed limits have been reached. later 2.5T (210HP LPT) 2003> nearly as fast as the early T5 and much quicker than the 2.4T. |

2.5t
I was lead to believe that the 2.5t engine has a different compression ratio, which is higher than the T5. Which in turn is ment to give better low end pick up.

Yes, that is true of both the LPT engines.
