Default ABS Query

Lou, sorry to hear about your speed not working. Have you looked at the Vehicle Speed Sensor which is located on the rear of the transmission behind the right hand driveshaft. There is a connector there. Also have you checked fuses 19/2 or 19/3 ? Just a possibility. Good luck

Your speedo will be run from wheel sensor signals. It is not gearbox driven...
Usually when the unit is not working, in my experience the speedo still does as the fault is not with an external element...
Failure of the speedo (and lights) is usually traced to the ignition electrical portion or in fact a sensor itself....
I would recommend you go to Volvo and have the codes read or find someone local to you with Vol-FCR....

I got stuck in the snow last nite and my Abs/Tracs was going mental, it then through the TRACS and ABS light up on the dash, i got it eventually in my Garage and cleaned all the Sensor's up, took the Car out for a drive, only got about 1000yds and the TRACS and ABS lights all went out and stayed out.

Yes one for each wheel, the front ones have seperate looms and the rears share a loom, which makes replacement a PIA...

There is only one torx?..iirc holding the sensor in place...
I really would recommend having your codes read in view of your speedo issues..
