440 XI Fuel Gauge - and Hello!
Or in reverse order - Hello first! New to this forum, so hi to all. Live in Stoke on Trent, have a wonderful 1992 440 XI - my 10th Volvo - in fact the only series varient I haven't owned is a '9' series - must rectify that oversite one day...
Anyway, please can someone help with my non-operating fuel gauge?? Not really a problem day to day, I have learnt how far I can go per £10 of fuel.....and haven't run out (ohhh famous last words....). BUT it is the only thing on the car that doesn't work, and I would like to fix it. I realise reading through some old threads that this is a common fault - empty tank light on all the time - so someone must know how to fix it? Thanks is advance, Graeme. |

Hello!
I'm searching to solve this problem for about 2 years. My fuel gauge always indicates full tank or to be more precise, starts to show somewhere from 3/4 and goes way more after the full tank limit, when the tank is full. About two weeks ago I took the tank's cap and wash it. Since then it starts the reading from ~1/3... strange. I also changed about 3 fuel senders from the tank, with no result. The next thing is to change the gauge... Does anybody solved the problem? In your case, with the light always on, there is high probability that your connections from the sender unit to be faulty. Good luck! Last edited by Adi2727; Jan 16th, 2010 at 12:18. |
