Newbie Help Please
Hi All
I haven't ran my Volvo for over 2 weeks during the cold weather and snow. So i started it up this morning and it took a bit to get going, 5 turns before it would fire up. Once it fired it, it was running fine on tick over. It also reved fine as well. But the minute i set off when the car was between 1200rpm and 2000rpm it would run really lumpy, as if there was a fuel starvation problem but above this it was fine. So i stopped and turned the key off. I tried to start it again and it would not start, i cranked it a few times. I did this for about 20 minutes. After which i tried to start it again it took a few pumps of the pedal and boom fired up. The problem was then gone. I took it for a run and there was no problem My question is, due to the cold weather and no running could there be water within the system that was still frozen which cause the fuel issue? Cheers Andy |

Maybe just cold and damp? Hopefully it has sorted itself out, so keep an eye on it.
I don't do much mileage and my car frquently spends several days without being moved, during the snow and ice even tho I didn't venture out I still started up the Volvo every 2-3 days, warmed it right up and moved it around to keep everything from getting damp / frozen / discharged. I don't think cars like the 850 with lots of electronics like being laid up for extended periods in bad weather, unlike my previous old 740 carb'd est, there was a tank you could leave and leave, as long as the battery was charged it would crank 'til it fuelled and roar into life lol. Odd this, my S80 will start and run perfectly in very cold, damp conditions but when the temprature changes it will take a couple of turns to start and then its very lumpy for a few minutes. Once the weather conditions have stablised it then seems ok again with no further problem. I attributed this to damp and being very electronically dependant.
