Default 2001 t4 turbo problem

hi, my 2001 v40 t4 has started playing up, it starts perfectly and pulls away fine, smooth plenty torque etc, the problem is when the turbo kicks in , it lacks power, sluggish, occasionaly it works and pulls as it should but then goes back to lacking power. i have had this car for 2 yrs so i know how it should drive, i am attempting to find a new/ good condition turbo but want to make sure its deffinately the problem, any ideas?

Check for splits or cracks in the pipework before you lash out on a turbo. These often produce intermittent problems like this.

......the wastegate connecting rod wears elongated where it goes over the gate pin where the clip is.....it will leave the wastegate open after time and it can rattle....so therefore a drop in power now and again....there is no lubrication to this part because the heat burns off any lubricant....i have cracks in my exhaust manifold with no consequences.....of course other things can cause the same effect, but you have to start somewhere?....

The turbocharger is the least likely suspect , If you have done over 100000 miles then first suspect the fuel pump in the tank ..

Could be pipes leaking, however look towards fuel pump. Pipes check will be cheaper as it costs nothing to look, give them a squeeze.
