rubber pipes from the top of the turbo
there are 3 rubber pipes partly covered ina foam coming of fthe top of the turbo on my T5. They are getting a bit hard and I want to replace them. Does anyone know what they are called or have a part number ?

RE: rubber pipes from the top of the turbo
Steve,
are these pipe small in diameter and go to a variety of solenoids etc. in the engine bay? If so then these are some of the pipes that the elbows deteriorate on. I replaced mine with suitably sized silicone pipe from the local car accessory shop. For the length of it, it wasn't particularly cheap but I won't have any problems in the future with air leaks. I did away with the elbows totally and just pushed the pipe straight onto the unions. When you replace them, I would do one at a time so that you don't mix up which goes to where (obvious point I know, but it's easy to rip them all off and then think 'Oh S**t!') regards

RE: rubber pipes from the top of the turbo
A tip someone told me is that you know all these thin plastic vacume pipes you get on modern cars thats about 5-6 mm thick and tends to crack and perish with the heat? Well places like B&Q sell aluminum tubing thats the same thickness that you can use to replace it. It can easily be bent to shape and then use a short section of silicon hose or buy some new Volvo elbows to make the connections.

Brian,
Those are one in the same pipes. Cheers I'll have a hunt around at the local motor factors as I'm sure they stock this kind of tubing. I think Demon Tweeks does a similar thing Simon but obviously at a highly inflated price compared to B&Q and it seems like a good idea to protect them. Cheers Steve |
