The cam is dependent on the intake & outlet setup - the freer flowing they are, thr richer needles that you'll be able to run at mid and higher revs. All the cam can do is move the valves - the volumes that flow through are dependent on other factors.
I'd match my needles to the nearest standard spec engine. I use B18B needles and they seem to work well for my setup (d cam, B18B head, 4 branch manifold). I could possibly run a slightly richer needle but it doesn't seem lean at higher revs so I'm happy with there or thereabouts.

Thanks Aidan,
I have 1966 B18 (?? B18B), twin downpipes, Simonz sports exhaust. (The Exhaust really seemed to open up the top end.) Hence I guess I should go with the standard B18B jets as you have. Thanks for this ! |

Try giving it a bit of choke under hard accelleration at higher revs and see if it goes faster - its a bit crude but it'll show up leanness if its in any way significant. Other that that, just read the plugs and see how things go.
