Default richmod ecu

I have just bought a 440t and have been told it has a richmod, the car also came with the spare standard ecu.

I believe its in the footwell next to the drivers foot.

Do they look the same from the outside?

Is it just some strange wiring on the inside?

yes both ECU will look the same on the outside but one will have a different chip inside it which increases the boost by about 5 psi over standard. are both ECU the same colour ? and what colour are they

They are silver with orange on them?

Can i ask what it does, is it just allowing more boost? Can i only run 5psi more and does it adjust the fueling accordingly.

Are these a good mod?

It probably not only adjusts the boost pressure but also changes the ignition timing and the injection of the fuel accordingly.

All the info you need regarding the richmod and superrichmod you can find on the volvo480-europe forum. Look at tuning and tweaking. But these mods are no longer produced. The guy who made them, richard pruen, stopped producing them about 2 years ago. Sometimes those ecu's show up at ebay. But beware that you buy the correct colour coded ecu for your turbo. The're maybe 4 or 5 different ecu's for the B18FT (turbo engine) and not all off them are interchangeable. The richmod produces about 170 hp at the wheels, just from modifications to the ecu. The super richmod produces as much as 250hp depending on the modifications to the engine as bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pressure etc.

Thanks guys, i have had the two ecus apart to have a look, i can not see any kinds tampering or changes, unless its a chip that has been changed or reprogrammed.

I suppose i should have plugged both in and driven the car.

Any pictures anywhere with the mod?

Came across this topic on the 480europe forum. It's explaining which changes can be done to a ecu to get some extra hp.
