Default Remote KeyFob

Hi,

I recently bought a 2008 S40 R Design SE Sport.

It only came with one remote key fob, but I am looking to get another. I have seen some of the 5 button ones on ebay for quite cheap. Can i just get one of those and get it programmed by Volvo? or can I do it myself?

If so how much am i looking at (roughly?)

If not, is there anywhere else to buy from except Volvo?

P.S. car is not one with keyless entry.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

Guy.

your ONLY option is to buy a key/remote from your volvo dealer and let them program it and remove the lost key from the memory .. ... I believe a key is about £60 + programming

hmm ok £60 doesn't seem too bad.

Any ideas on how much programming costs?

Default Key

Hi, I had one key when i brought my Volvo s40, it cost me £110. That's without the blade key, which was extra £25. There will NOT program a key from places like Ebay, unless the people who are selling it on ebay have a number which Volvo need to program it (there say).
It only cost £25 for Volvo to program it. Mind you, the price cost me threw Trade. It's a rip off but it's better having two keys than one.

.
Thats very true , and its not the dealer who decides if they want to program a key or not , Its volvos system , the software will not allow a key to be prgrammed without a code number to input ... thats why your car is probably the most secure in the world .. and thats what you pay for ...
Anyway , which manufacturer actualy sells a cheap key/programming ?
