D19 - S40/V40 to 2004 - Poor Performance

I have a s40 Diesel which is now struggling a lower revs.It's very poor at pulling away from standing but once the revs are up to 2500 rpm it goes like a rocket (when the turbo kicks in?).I have changed the air filter (which did make a bit of difference) and the fuel filter (the diesel in the bottom of the container was yellowish). I don't know where the diesel condensate drain is so haven't been able to drain that.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

It was the map or air mass sensor causing the problem. Had to have the codes read to find out, then volvo sent a faulty replacement (at £185) so another delay whilst other things were checked but its working now.
