Saying that, 27mpg is bad, even for the large ML. Heavy foot?

As a note, a friend have a ML420Cdi (yes, the V8 diesel version) and he gets better than 27mpg....
My old Q7 averaged Between 28mpg and 30mpg. (3.0tdi v6) never seemed to move too much either way with different road conditions.

Default XC90 24mpg !

I have just purchased a 2006 2.4D SE

I get only 24mpg, using only cruise control on an empty motorway (hard to find these days) at 56mph !

It's had new oil filter, new fuel filter, new air filter etc. I m thinking of new tyres (3 bridgestone crosstrack and 1 continental currently).

last step is to take it to Volvo to check fault codes in the ECU before I buy a www.chipexpress.com colleague has one and he says it improves consumption by 15%.

anyone else face similar rubbish consumption ? everyone else on this board seem to have outstanding figures !

Normal city driving such as short journeys, traffic lights etc and I get around 28mpg. Cruising-ish may creep up to 30 - 31.

Did a stint round the south of the M25 one evening - that was around 31mpg at a fair lick. Did a similar journey while cruising the following weekday morning with smooth traffic at around 60-70 and I reached an amazing 38mpg.

It seems I can hit high 30's if ifs motorway cruising as gentle calm pace. Turning the wick up and it drops quite dramatically to 31-32.

These figures are all from the on board computer though.

Not sure that they made the XC60 in 2006

Agree that figure looks bad for any car, let alone XC60
