Engine 850: B5254S/2.4/20v: - quick one

trying to figure out this manifold repair, can someone tell me before i go off to buy parts if the older type manifold(oval shape) has a gasket to join into the downpipe to the cat? or is it just held together with the springs?

Mine has. Didn't seem very effective though so smothered it with firegum.. was a pain to then unbolt it to remove the engine
