Default V40 rear parcel shelf

Anybody ever had to rewind one of these?

It fell out and has lost it's "spring" I assume that like an old roller blind, you retension the spring with a screwdriver?

rolled or unrolled?

The blind winds under the metal tube or over? (looking at it from the back?)

yeah i've done this, simple enough..

remove the parcel shelf from the car, on the end of the blind there is a slot, pull the blind free from the shelf, one end only, a square lug holds it in.

re tension the spring by using a large flat screwdriver, with the tension still on slide the square lug back in.

takes a few goes but well worth the effort.

cheers

yeah leave it rolled up, wind up the tension, refit and see what its like.

i did mine in the lounge and thought it was tight enough, stuck it back in and it was saggy so just wound it up a little more....

cheers

Hi. I have tried to tighten the tension but it doesn't move. The roller just rolls back down with no tension at all. Which way do you turn it? Does it matter which end you do?
Thanks
Paul

hi paul

should not make a difference which end you do, are you getting any tension at all ??

when i wound mine up, if i let go before the tab was located in the shelf it would just unwind !!

cheers

Hi Scott

I have the same problem, only that the square lug is very soft and I'm scared of busting it as the the tube refuses to be turned.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ken
