M90 adjustable short-throw shifter feeler/Group buy
I have been talking to John Grimsmo recently, the proprietor of cravingboost.com. He makes some cracking good stuff for volvos, but it's all out of production at the moment, as he's working on another big project for the forseeable future. However, he said he's open to making a short run of his adjustable short-throw shifters for the M90 gearbox, which as far as I know are the only ones available in the world.
Not only does it give you a crisper quicker gearshift, but also allows you to adjust how much shorter the throw is, and you can keep your stock gear knob and gaiter, it's completely invisible visually. These will fit any car with an M90 gearbox, 940s, 960s, S/V90s, or any 740s or 240s anybody may have converted. they will NOT work with and M46/M47 box, I'm afraid. We haven't worked out exact pricing yet, but some back-of-an envelope calculations done by me puts the pricing at around £140ish per shifter, posted to your door in the UK with all taxes/customs fees/postage paid. So is anybody interested? this is still an early-stage feeler, so no finished products will be ready for a while yet, but I'd like to see who's potentially on board. like I said, £140ish. I will hopefully have more exact pricing when I know the exact price to me, but the original price for these shifters is $180 canadian, which is £116 at todays exchange rate, plus 17.5% vat, comes out to £136, plus postage costs. I'm presuming if I get a small discount on the shifters themselves, I will be able to supply them for in the region of £140 including post costs. I'm not trying to make a profit on these, If I can get them cheaper I will pass the discount on.
EDIT: I should also note, these are being specially made, they will be the last batch of M90 short shifters made for a long time if not forever. Last edited by wooble; Jun 30th, 2010 at 21:52. |

I have one on my 945
I think I paid about £120 including postage and it didn't get pulled by customs This is what they look like: The throw of the gearshift is much shorter and slicker than with the original shifter. Also say goodby to changing radio stations with your knuckles when changing gear.

Right, I've talked postage costs and discounted prices with John and I can supply these, posted to your door, for £135 each including VAT, with a minimum order of 5 shifters, so I'd need four people to want in on this (as I'm buying one myself) to proceed. The price would fall further if customs don't hit me for VAT, but I'm not going to count on that possibility.
John also says he can have the shifters made in a few days after I place the order, so you won't be waiting for a long time for them. Get 'em while they're hot! |
